Aussie band ROXUS fronted by singer Juno Roxas was without a doubt one of the best Melodic Rock acts ever emerged from Down Under. They only released a full length album, an EP and some singles, but all these include some real gems in the genre.
Someone requested here a supposedly unreleased 2009 album by Roxus, but it never existed, at least not recorded that year.
In 2010 vocalist Juno Roxas announced a series of shows in Melbourne and other Australian cities performing the bands classics and some songs written back in a day but never presented to the fans.
So theres no new 2009-10 album, but a bunch of great songs never heard / published before: "The Paris Sessions".
The title does not refer to the French city, these are demos recorded and produced under the supervision of AOR icon Jeff Paris tracked down in America at the beginning of the 90s, where Juno Roxas moved later to pursue a songwriter career.
Some of these tracks surfaced some time ago amongst collectors and fan websites, but I assure you not with this audio quality, besides we have here many songs never presented in the world wide web before.
Take as example the great Melodic Rocker "Love Me, Do Me" with a really Americanized sound, which somehow reminds me Damn Yankees. Or the re-worked long version of "Body Heat" (a winner) with the Jeff Paris treatment.
Another rarity is the original demo of the bands biggest hit "Where Are You Now", featuring Robin Randall (Mark Free, Venus & Mars) and Steve Hopkins (Mark Free) on keyboards, while James Christian (House Of Lords) and the superb Diana Dewitt (Venus & Mars) did backing vocals. This version is far superior than the finally appeared in Roxus album / single.
And we have more from the Paris Sessions: killer rocking, melodic unreleased tunes such as "What You Dont Know", "Stop Playing With My Heart" or "Invisible Man".
To make it more juicy, I have included into the file more rarities; the hard to find original 89 single version (Australia only) of "Stand Back", the b-side "Borderline", unreleased live versions of "Bad Boys" and "All Right Now" (Free cover) which I believe were recorded at MTV studios, and even a Juno Roxas performance from the 1987 movie Mull (never released soundtrack).
Very good stuff, a true collectors item directly from my archives.

A bit of late notice, but if you use Google Reader you should already be aware of this news. My selfish concern in this is that those of you that follow Delta-Slider via Google Reader will drift away and leave me sad and alone.
So, here are a few alternatives to Reader that you can use. The Mrs. and I are using Newsblur and she is quite happy with it so far. I just loaded it up this morning. Dont be fooled by the screen telling you 1,476 people in front of you are awaiting their free account. We both got an email for a free account a couple days later.
Also in the running is Feedly. The Mrs. is a huge blog junky and has been furiously testing alternatives, this one has been running side by side with Newsblur and its a close race. You can find info about it here: Transitioning from Google Reader to feedly
No doubt there are others be be cautious. Even if you arent using Google Reader, the one you are using may be running off Googles "backend". I think thats some techno-geekology term that I only vaguely understand, but I think it means that once Google shuts down these other readers lose the connection to all your fav blogs.
So heres to hoping you will find a new reader and continue to follow Delta-Slider and all your other favorite blogs out there. I know my posting has fallen off quite a bit as of late but you know how it is...life! But the Slider aint dead, no, just taking a break between sets.

- You can programmatically add contextual event definitions, register the event producer and even trigger the contextual event. This is useful when you build taskflows which needs to trigger different events based on the context(client that hosts the task flow) where its used. See the below code snippet:

- To turn off automated region refresh while consuming contextual event, add refresh="false" for the consumer element in the eventMap present in the consuming pages page definition file. This is useful if you want to take the charge of refresh (or more control on page refresh) for the event consuming page. An example is here:

- You can have manged bean as event handler for contextual event(not only data controls). However in this case you may want to create the methodAction bindings manually. This eases your job when you want to refresh UI component or invoke some managed bean code as part of contextual event. The following is an example:

- Run the main.jsf, it has tow regions, top one that produces the contextual event on clicking the button and bottom one which consumes the event. The event and payload is added dynamically here.
- See the EventProducer and CustomEventProducer classes in the ViewController project to get a feel of the dynamic event producer part.
- See consumerPageDef.xml (page definition file for consumer.jsff) to understand how managed bean can be used as event handler.
- In consumerPageDef.xml you may also notice that the event subscription part has a handleCondition="#{backingBeanScope.EventHandler.isEnabledForEvent}" added. This is used to conditionally turn off the event subscription. Note that, in this example event producer sets some family name to a request scoped map, which is used by the event subscriber by EL binding the handleCondition attribute (which is present in consumer region inside the eventMap element in the page def xml) with EventHandler::isEnabledForSubsrcibingEvent() method to decide whether to subscribe for the event or not. In the sample application, the check-box in the producer UI is used to turn OFF the subscriber region. See the code to get a feel of this implementation. You can have better logic in you application.

Although the OS has been floating around in various forms for the past couple of weeks now, it looks to have finally gone official across the board in Canada for the BlackBerry Q10.
Confirmed to be arriving on Rogers, Bell and TELUS devices folks who check for updates should see that software version 10.1.0.273 is available. Oddly enough, if you check your device you may find that it�s already on this �software version� but that doesn�t mean you should dismiss the update.
In fact, you should download it because even though the software version is the same, the OS inside is not. Unless you�ve installed a leak or ran a customized autoloader, most BlackBerry Q10?s in Canada should be running OS 10.1.0.1483 but with this download, even though the software version will remain unchanged, you�ll end up being on OS 10.1.0.1720.
We realize a good lot of you might have already had this show up but if not, now is a good time to check for updates. The update received on my Q10 came in at 127MB, sound off in the comments if you weren�t seeing it before but have now had it appear.

Method:
We removed the clear packing tape from the bottom of the box so it could be laid flat.
We measured my stair height (approx. 8 inches) and depth (approx. 12 inches). Using a long metal ruler we drew straight lines on the box to identify where the step piece would be. Do this on both sides of the box..be sure to work on the same end :)
Here is a bit of a tricky part, I only made 3 cuts on each side of the box (see picture below - I made cuts along the bold black lines and I folded along the dotted line) so that I could fold the box and keep most of the box intact to create the bottom and side of the step part.
I removed the top flaps of the box because I did not need any extra height. If you box is not high enough, you can use the top flaps for this.
Making the shape of the stair basket, took me about 10 minutes to do. But the next step of covering it with fabric took me almost 2 hours! I didnt have much of this fabric left over from recovering my kitchen chairs so I had to plan wisely. It really wasnt difficult as I used Mod Podge to secure the fabric to the box but the planning took me forever. I used some left over black vinyl for the bottom of the box so that it wouldnt show any dirt (plus I didnt want to use more of the fabric since I might want to use it on something else later).

If anything, Mr. Finucane�s syrupy, meandering enunciations present a worthy foil to the uneasy tension established by the trio�s deft, imaginative playing. Swings songs routinely fall in and out of rhythm, an approach that on the surface comports with the mopey preoccupation ascribed to like-minded bands. However, over multiple listens, the haphazard cadences prove well-calculated, perhaps cribbed from jazz or influenced by the late DJ Rashad. And so Swings ability to sound equal parts improbably loose and delightfully concise emerges as a key element of the bands aesthetic.
Detergent Hymns commences with "Pale Trinity," a composition cast from slow, plodding guitar lines that establish a narcotic pacem albeit one spangled by jazz-y drum fills that materialize seemingly at random. Musically, the vibe suggests a maniacal reimagining of the palpable haze sonic forebears Galaxie 500 conjured with its LP On Fire. Its also a thoughtful extension of the tone set by last years "Champagne" single. Its worth noting here that Swings was once an entirely different, and -- as the group would likely admit -- more pedestrian project oeprating under the moniker Anchor 3. With that context, Detergent Hymns represents a complete rebirth. The transition certainly bodes well for the young group, considering the boundless possibilities seemingly afforded by the fresh direction.
The graceful, pulsating "Heavy Manner," as well as the records closing statement "Calling It," were pushed as preview tracks, but the highlight of Detergent Hymns may well be "Phlegm." The tunes uninviting title does little to detract from its winsome, rise-and-fall, dynamic appeal. That said, its difficult to single out specific tracks, as the entire record is strong, and works well as a cohesive piece. Swings wrapped a short strand of live dates Saturday in Harrisonburg, VA, and -- as noted on its social media platforms -- the trio already has another record in the proverbial bag and ready for mixing. We feel comfortable opining that if the planned successor set maintains the beguiling personality of Detergent Hymns, we foresee yet more success for Swings. Detergent Hymns is out now on cassette via Quiet Year Records in an apparent limited edition of 65 pieces, and were given to understand that few remain in stock; try and grab one here.
